Time to change to fully watching Cable Television
This past week of the shows I usually watch on Network television did not impress me at all. Agents of Shield I have no idea what's going on anymore, it's almost as complicated as LOST but less interesting and more special effects. New Girl isn't as funny as it was the first two seasons, maybe it has to do with Nick and Jess being a couple, I still enjoy Schmidt. I watched How I Met Your Mother for 9 years and this season has confused me so much, reminds me of the last season of Scrubs, they got renewed for a last season and then I'm wondering why... I just saw the premiere of True Detective, it's only the pilot but it's a way more interesting and well written cop drama than my guilty pleasure action and jokes making shows of Almost Human and Hawaii Five-0. I had my issues with the new seasons of Homeland and the Newsroom but those shows still kept me interested and grit. The only network dramas I can actually agree to fully enjoying in all aspects is The Following and I binge watched it on Netflix. Now to Netflix I have to watch House of Cards and I am one of the few people who has not seen Breaking Bad, I know how it ends but I still want to see the change Walter White through. I have been a fan of gritty and dark story lines since I watched The Dark Knight and There Will Be Blood. I figure that cable shows are starting to implement this aspect more so I might just make the switch full time. Revolution and The Following are interesting and still have me watching but besides that I don't think I can keep up with network dramas much longer even though I will be watching 24 when it returns in May. Hostages worked but I have no idea how they will have a second season and if it wasn't for James Spader I think I would have given up on this show 3 months ago. Cables shows like Mad Men is coming to an end so I'm glad Masters of Sex came along to take over my 60/70's fix. Comedies wise I got more laughs from cable shows than I did from network television shows. I really enjoy the smart and dark humor of The League, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and House of Lies. Comedies in network television all seem the same with Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother and Men at work are the usual group of people talking about sex and some random jokes and then newcomers and the new Crazy Ones and Sean Saves the world remind me of comedies from the 90's. I network television is going to have to get grittier in order to keep my interest. Does anyone recommend any new series to watch? I say new because it's going to be hard for me to want to watch a series that has been around more than 3 years because it is going to be hard to catch up with a series that long if there are newer episodes coming out.
